Beautiful/Human
A digital and printed poster series that hopes to address the rise of consumerism and the commodification of sustainability. This has led to the message of sustainability to be lost and has caused sustainability to feel classist and inaccessible. This project is meant to bring sustainability back to its roots by showcasing the "ugly" side of sustainable practices. Doing so shows that participating in sustainability looks unique to everyone, and it is beautiful because it is imperfect.
Sustainable Practices Photography
Each sustainable practice was photographed with intention and careful placement. Practices photographed include second-hand shopping, recycling, composting, using menstrual cups, and reusing takeout containers and plastic bags. This symbolizes the beauty these practices hold because they are helping people and the environment.
Poster Design
The poster is designed to be modern, yet friendly. This is achieved by implementing a flower-inspired embellishment, a mixture of modern and hand-written type, and a limited color palette.
Takeaways
The display also includes takeaways for viewers, which includes mini-posters and stickers. These items are meant to be picked up by those who the message of the project resonates with, and want to remember or pass it along.
